Quad Lock Buyer's Guide: Which Case, Mount & Accessory Do You Actually Need?
If you've searched "quadlock," "quad lock," or even "quadralock" and landed on a wall of nearly identical black plastic parts, you're not alone — it's the single most common question we get at the counter. Quad Lock isn't one product, it's a modular system: a case that goes on your phone, a mount that goes on your bike, boat, ATV or dash, and a handful of accessories that connect the two. Buy the wrong combination and you've got a case with nothing to lock into, or a mount that doesn't match your case.
This guide walks through the system in the order you actually need to shop it: case first, then mount, then accessories. By the end you'll know exactly which SKUs to add to your cart for your phone and your ride.
What Is Quad Lock, and How Does It Actually Work?
Quad Lock is an Australian-designed mounting system built around a patented dual-stage twist lock. A case (or a universal adaptor) attaches to your phone and carries a small locking plate on the back. That plate twists into a mount — bolted, clamped, or stuck to your handlebars, dash, or boat console — and locks with a quarter turn. A push-button release lets you pull the phone back off in one motion, one-handed, with a glove on.
The reason it's become the standard for motorcycle, ATV, UTV and snowmobile riders (rather than a suction-cup or magnetic mount) is vibration resistance. A phone bouncing around on a trail or a washboard road will shake loose from almost anything except a mechanical twist-lock, which is why Quad Lock ships an entire product line — the Vibration Dampener — built specifically to protect your phone's camera from ride vibration.
Step 1: Pick Your Case (This Is Where Everyone Gets Stuck)
Quad Lock currently sells two case families, and mixing them up is the #1 support question we field:
- MAG cases — the current generation. They carry a built-in Quad Lock locking plate and a magnetic ring compatible with Apple MagSafe and other Qi2 magnetic chargers. If you're buying new today, this is the line to get.
- Classic 360 cases — the original line, locking plate only, no magnetic ring. Still sold for a handful of older phone models, but Quad Lock has been migrating new releases to MAG-only.
Either case works with either mount family (MAG cases will also snap onto a plain magnetic surface, but they still need a genuine Quad Lock mount to twist-lock securely for powersports use — a magnet alone isn't enough on a trail). Here's a cross-section of what we stock for current phones:

Samsung Galaxy owners get the same MAG treatment. The S24 and S25 lines have the deepest stock right now, with the new S26 lineup already in:

Don't see your exact phone listed on the site? Message our team — Quad Lock adds new case molds every time a flagship phone launches, and we can usually get a case for anything released in the last three to four years.
Step 2: Pick Your Mount — This Is Where Your Vehicle Decides for You
Once your case is sorted, the mount is entirely about where the phone needs to live. This is the part where being a powersports dealer actually matters — most Quad Lock retailers are built around cyclists and commuters, so their mount selection skews toward road bikes. Ours is built around ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles and boats.
Motorcycle, ATV & UTV Handlebar Mounts
For most powersports handlebars, a clamp mount that wraps the bar (rather than bolting through a fork stem) is the simplest install and the easiest to move between vehicles. The PRO versions add a reinforced clamp body for rougher terrain; the standard versions are lighter and cheaper for road use.

If your handlebar clamp area is already crowded with switches and grips, a fork stem mount clears the bar entirely by bolting to the top of your triple clamp instead — a popular choice on sport-oriented ATVs and motorcycles with tight cockpits.

Running a mirror-mounted GPS setup instead? The mirror mount replaces your mirror stem hardware directly, which keeps your handlebars completely clear — a common request from Can-Am Spyder and touring motorcycle owners.

And if you'd rather keep your phone off the bars entirely, the brake/clutch perch mount tucks the phone in tight against the controls — a good option on smaller ATVs and dirt-oriented builds where bar space is at a premium.

Fitment note: the clamp-style handlebar and handlebar/stem mounts fit standard round handlebar tubing from roughly 22 mm up to 32 mm in diameter, which covers the vast majority of ATV, UTV, snowmobile and motorcycle handlebars — if you're not sure what your bar measures, our team can confirm fitment before you order.
Boat & Marine Mounts
On the water, the cup holder mount is the fastest install on any boat, pontoon or Sea-Doo with a standard cup holder in the console — no drilling required. For a more permanent console mount, the adhesive dash mount holds securely to a flat surface with 3M adhesive and a locking pivot head.

Car & Truck Mounts
For your daily driver or tow vehicle, the vent mount clips onto standard air vent fins in seconds, while the console/dash mount above works equally well on a car dashboard as it does on a boat console.

Desk, Home & Office
Plenty of our customers run the same case on the trail all weekend and at a desk all week — the desk mount lets the same phone and case pivot and tilt at a workstation without buying a second case.

Step 3: Round Out the System With the Right Accessories
The case and mount get your phone locked in place. These accessories are what make it actually usable ride after ride.
Vibration Dampener — Don't Skip This One
If you're mounting a phone anywhere on a snowmobile, ATV, UTV or dirt-capable motorcycle, treat the Vibration Dampener as mandatory, not optional. Sustained high-frequency vibration from a trail or washboard road can damage a phone's camera's optical image stabilization over time — the dampener isolates the phone from that vibration mechanically, and it's the single most common upsell our service techs recommend to powersports riders specifically.

Keeping Your Phone Charged on Longer Rides
A phone running GPS navigation and a Bluetooth connection all day will drain faster than it charges from a USB trickle. For anything permanently wired into a motorcycle, ATV or boat's 12V system, the hardwired waterproof charging head is the cleanest long-term solution; the plug-and-play waterproof head suits anyone who wants wireless charging without running new wiring.

For the car mount or desk mount, the wireless car/desk charging head and the newer MAG wireless charging head V2 both turn any Quad Lock mount into a Qi charger the moment your phone locks in.

A Couple of Small but Popular Extras
The MAG Wallet snaps onto the back of any MAG case to carry up to three cards — handy for a gas or marina stop without digging for a wallet — and the Anti-Theft Screw Kit swaps your mount's standard screws for a tamper-resistant set, worth it if your bike is parked outside for long stretches at a marina or trailhead.

What Should You Actually Buy? Price Bands by Setup
If you're building a full setup from scratch, here's roughly what to budget in CAD:
- Entry setup (under $100): one MAG case (roughly $60-70) plus a basic handlebar or vent mount (roughly $35-50). This covers a commuter motorcycle, a boat cup holder, or a car.
- Mid-range powersports setup ($150-220): MAG case, a PRO handlebar clamp or fork stem mount, and the Vibration Dampener. This is the setup we'd recommend for most ATV, UTV and snowmobile riders using their phone for trail navigation.
- Full setup ($250+): the above plus a hardwired waterproof charging head, and a second mount (say, a boat cup holder mount alongside your motorcycle handlebar mount) so the same case moves between vehicles without buying a second phone case.
Which Quad Lock Setup Fits Your Ride?
A quick way to think about it by vehicle:
- Motorcycle or dirt-capable ATV/UTV: MAG case, PRO handlebar clamp mount (or fork stem mount if your bars are crowded), Vibration Dampener.
- Snowmobile: MAG case, handlebar clamp mount, and the Vibration Dampener — Ontario trail conditions in February will find any loose mount within the first few kilometres.
- Boat or Sea-Doo: MAG case, cup holder mount or adhesive dash mount, and a waterproof charging head if you're running navigation for a full day on the water.
- Daily driver: MAG case, vent mount or wireless charging vent/dash mount.
Every one of these mounts and cases lives in our full Quad Lock collection. If you're shopping by phone model, our Quad Lock iPhone cases and Quad Lock Samsung cases collections are the fastest way to find your exact model, and the Quad Lock mounting collection has every mount option in one place.
